SPOILER WARNING!  If you haven’t watched this season’s premiere, then stop reading right now.

WOW, what a season premiere!  That definitely was worth the long wait.  If the premiere was any indication of how this final season will be, then we are in for a surprisingly wild ride.

We got the answer to a question we’ve wanted since the first season…  Who or what is the Smoke Monster?  We got to see “Flocke” turn into Smokey and then later he told Ben, “I’m sorry you had to see me like that.”  Well we guessed that he was the Smoke Monster, so yay, good for us!  But wait, not so fast…

I don’t believe he is the only smoke monster on the Island, more about that later.  Back to Flocke.  One minute he’s apologizing and acting like he’s a good guy, and the next he’s very cold heartedly talking about how pitiful and broken the real John Locke was.  Flocke made the statement, “Unlike Locke, I want to go home”.  Where to you suppose that “home” is?  Could it be the temple?  Is that why the temple people started pouring ash and taking positions to surround the temple, saying it was to, “keep him out”?

What do you think Flocke meant when he told Richard, “glad to see you out of those chains”?  I have a few thoughts.  One of them is, that Richard is also a smoke monster.  I’ve noticed that the Smoke Monster makes different sounds and one of them sounds like a chain dragging or being pulled.  Or perhaps, he meant it metaphorically.  It’s possible Richard was on the Black Rock and he, in helping Jacob, was given immortality in exchange for being a slave for him.  If that’s true, now that Jacob is dead, will Richard start aging?  Can he be killed now?  One final Flocke moment; what did he mean when he said, “I’m disappointed in all of you”?  And, OMG, what about those evil faces he made!?

So many more questions now, it makes my head spin.  Like Sayid, who I really thought would be saved by getting him to the temple.  I was so disappointed when he died.  But wait, let’s back up a bit.

Sayid is laying on the ground next to the van and Hurley is watching over him, when Jacob appears out of the jungle.  Besides other things, Jacob tells Hurley, “I need you to save Sayid.  You need to take Sayid to the temple, that’s the only chance he’s got.  The rest of you will be safe there.”  He also told him, “Take the guitar case with you”.  Why does Jacob need Sayid to live?  Fast forward a little now.

We watched the temple people open the guitar case, take out a wooden ankh, break it in half and remove a letter.  The temple people then asked the Lostie’s their names, in which Hurley asks, “What else did the letter say?”  Then one of the temple people said, “If Sayid dies, we’re all in trouble.”

We later watch Sayid die inside the temple after what appeared to be the temple people drowning him.  Later, we don’t really know how long, Hurley screams, “JACK!”, as Sayid raises up and says, “What happened?”  That’s all we know for this episode, but what did happen?

Did the temple bring Sayid back to life?  Did Jacob enter into Sayid’s body?  Here’s a couple more ideas.  Did the real Locke, or Flocke, enter into Sayid’s body?  I’m going to look again, but I believe when Sayid said, “What happened?”, he didn’t have his accent.  So right now, I’m thinking Jacob entered Sayid’s body.  What about you?  Did you hear his accent?  Who do you think Sayid is?

Next week, we’ll see what else we can piece together.  Until then, let’s grab a cup of coffee – we’ll go dutch.

Can ya dig it?
