Let’s start with our recap. In the Alt world Desmond has been very busy gathering the losties for one major group enlightenment. It would appear they’re all going to be attending the same concert, where we will for the first time meet Jack’s x-wife  David’s mother. By the way, I still believe it’s going to be Juliet. What do you think is going to happen at the concert?  How is Desmond going to show everyone they have another life?

As far as I know Des hasn’t visited Rose or Bernard yet and we don’t even know if they are married in the Alt world or maybe  they’re not ready yet like Ana Lucia. Des phoned Jack pretending to be Oceanic airlines saying they found his father’s casket and that it would be arriving that afternoon, I wonder if that’s when he plans on telling Jack?  Speaking of Jack is it just me or did it seem very odd for Claire to be at Jack’s house?  She seemed so out of place, it was like looking at one of those pictures where you have to find the item what doesn’t belong there.  Why does Jack’s neck keep bleeding in the same spot?  Is that in reference to something I missed?  I can’t wait to see how Alt Jack is going to react to the news of another life. He knows there’s something strange about running into all the same people that were on flight 815, yet he told Locke don’t mistake” coincidence for fate.”  Which is another mirror of the Island, only it was  Mr. Eko saying it to Locke .

Looks as though Locke is going to get his legs back after all.  Since Locke and Smokey share the same likeness I thought it was sort of fitting that they also shared the same sentiment in regards to Smokey’s statement, “I like to feel my feet on the ground.” Alright we’ll end our Alt recap with one of my favorite’s, another beat down for Ben. Wasn’t it great when Desmond jumped out of his car and punched Ben?  They stayed true to all six season’s,  LOST just isn’t LOST without Ben getting beat up.  By the way Michael Emerson really did get a black eye when filming that scene.

It appears the Alt world mirror’s the Island world, only things are a little off or backwards.  Have you noticed the colors are dull looking and almost everything is some shade of gray. Can anyone tell me what’s up with all the gray?  It’s like the Alt universe is fake or fading out of time and reality or something.

Meanwhile back on the Island…. We have the fab four ( Hurley, Jack, Sawyer and Kate) on their way to find the well that Desmond is trapped in. Right before Sayid blew up with the bomb he told Jack, Smokey put Desmond in a well and he was suppose to kill him but he didn’t do it.  Sayid told Jack to save Desmond because he must be important if Smokey wants him dead.

OMG I thought I was going to cry when Sawyer said to Jack “I killed them didn’t I ?”  Jack had the opportunity to really stick it to Sawyer here, the same way Sawyer had been tormenting  Jack over Juliet’s death but he didn’t.  This scene showed us just how far Jack has come, the old quick tempered Jack would have already been in his face about it. Jack looked Sawyer in the eye and with compassion he said, it was Smokey’s fault.  Sawyer already felt bad enough without that burden of being blamed.  It would have been nice to see Jack and Sawyer become friends, there have been times that they each needed each other.

I felt there so many questions about Widmore that should have been answered before he died. I felt Widmore should have gone out in a blaze of glory.  It seemed only fitting after all the years he spent trying to find his way back to the Island again. I wanted more history like, when and why did  him and Eloise part company?   Why wasn’t he part of Faraday’s life ? Why didn’t Faraday know Widmore was his father?  What about the nightmares he told Ben he was having in Season four?  There was so much unanswered about his life, maybe we’ll find out more when the Alt Widmore has his awakening.  Will someone please tell me what purpose did Zoe serve?

Poor Richard, seems every time Smokey and him meet up, he gets his butt kicked.  Wow! he really went flying didn’t he?   Don’t give up hope I don’t believe he’s dead yet,  he’ll turn up in the finale.  What about Miles? What part will he play?

One place I would have liked to have been was at that campfire with Jacob and the fab four.  That was the one moment I had been waiting to see.  Why them?  Because they were flawed, they were all alone like Jacob and looking for something they couldn’t find out there.  Jacob said, “You needed this place as much as it needed you.” Kate’s name had been crossed off only because she became a Mother to Aaron.  Boy did I feel stupid, I thought of everything but that.  Jack stood up and said “I’ll do it, this is why I’m here, this is what I’m suppose to do.”  We’ve all known for some time that Jack would become  the new Jacob, the new protector. Looking back it’s easy to see that it’s  always been Jack.  That’s why he woke up in the bamboo so far away from everyone else the day they crashed.  Jack also had appendicitis when he was trying to leave the Island, because he wasn’t suppose to.  Jacob got Hurley to get Jack and himself out of the Temple before Smokey got there and killed everyone.  Jacob always knew and  we should have realized back when they told us the meaning of Jack’s tattoo, “He walks among us but is not one of us.” Jack had been chosen.  Jacob tells the Fab four, you have to protect the light at the center of the Island from Smokey. You have to make sure the Light never goes out, you have to do what I wasn’t able to do, You have to kill him because he certainly going to kill you.  Jacob took Jack to a stream of water said a prayer and  had Jack drink the water that had been blessed.  At that moment you could see in Jack’s eyes he had received  wisdom, understanding and awareness.  Then Jacob said, “you’re like me.”

Meanwhile back at New Otherton, Ben and Smokey have teamed up because Smokey needs Ben to kill some People for him.  Smokey told Ben he’d leave him in charge of the Island for a job well done.  As Smokey questions Widmore as to why he brought Desmond to the Island, Ben shoots killing Widmore, but not before Widmore whispers something to Smokey.  Now the question is, did Widmore tell Smokey the truth about the ‘Fail Safe?”  He knew he was going to die either way, I think that’s why Widmore wouldn’t talk in front of Ben, I think he lied about the “Fail Safe” setting a trap for Smokey.  I also wonder about Ben, I don’t really believe Ben is on Smokey’s side, we all know Ben will do what ever it takes to survive however, In this case I think it’s a good possibility that Ben will die a martyr’s death to save the Island. If I’m wrong, at the end of the last episode Smokey told Ben he was going to destroy the Island, So Ben now knows there won’t be anything left to be in charge of. That’s a double cross and Ben won’t take that lightly.

I think we’ve covered everyone but Desmond.  I feel so sorry for him because right now it doesn’t look like he will have much of a future.  Hopefully the Fab four will find him before Smokey does. The “Light ” of the Island is inside an electromagnetic tunnel and if anyone tries to enter the tunnel it separates the soul from the body, killing the body and turning their soul into a Smokey, chaining them to the Island. Desmond has a  unique capability of being able to withstand an electromagnetic blast and live, that makes him the only one who can save or destroy the Island.  He is the Island’s ‘Fail Safe key.”  I’m afraid Smokey is going to use Desmond to destroy the Island by sending  him into the “Light Cave” to put out the light which would also destroy the Island.  If the light goes out, I believe Smokey will be free to leave the Island and enter into the real world.

Things we might see in” The End.”

1) Juliet is David’s Mother. Her and Sawyer will meet, maybe have that cup of coffee.

2) Rose, Bernard, Lapidus, Richard and Vincent are all still alive somewhere on the Island.

3) Ben will do the right thing.

Ok,  so that actually made my head hurt. We have a lot to think about before Sunday arrives, like what are all of us going to do with our lives when LOST is all over?  I don’t know about all of you but I might need therapy. I’ll  See you all on Sunday.

We learned a lot this week, so lets start with “Fmother” (fake mother).  I believe Fmother brought Claudia to the Island because she needed the babies for her replacement. I also think Fmother had it wrong, BIB was always suppose to be Smokey and Jacob was always the protector. It was as if BIB was born corrupt, he knew things that he had no way of knowing.  Fmother was right about him being special, the Island had chose him to be Smokey.  With being chosen certain knowledge was just bestowed upon him.  He  was always very curious, acting as though he didn’t really believe the things his Fmother was telling him.  Jacob was so innocent  and trusting  believing everything he was told, never questioning as if he had blind faith. Jacob was content with how things were while BIB was always longing for more and  wondering what was across the sea.

Fmother doted on BIB I think she saw some of herself in him even though he wasn’t her child.  He was corruptible like her, he had the ability to lie and to do whatever he needed to.  Unlike Jacob, she told BIB that Jacob wasn’t like him he was unable to lie.  Fmother told BIB he didn’t have to worry about dying, as we know the protector of the Island  is immortal and she had made her choice.  One day while hunting they came across the original Others, they were scared and shocked to see other people on the Island.  Now Fmother needed to act quickly, after all she had lies to cover up. She tells them, “they’re not like us, we’re here for a reason.  They’re dangerous they come they fight they destroy they corrupt and it always ends the same.” She asked them if the Others had seen them because if they did they would hurt them because that’s what people do and that you’re never to go looking for them.  Fmother then said, “I made it so you can never hurt each other.” She then led them to the “Light” and said, “this is why we’re here.  It’s the warmest, brightest light you’ve ever seen or felt.  We must make sure no one ever finds it.   A little bit of this very same light is in every man, but they always want more.  They’ll try to take it and if the light goes out here, it goes out everywhere.  One of you have to protect it.”   BIB said, “it’s beautiful.”  He wasn’t afraid and got as close as he could, while Jacob stayed back.

We’ve witnessed some of the light’s power, thanks to Ben and Locke they showed us that the  MIB was right, It’s a way off the Island.  Claudia appeared to BIB and told him the truth about the Others and how they came across the sea, she also told him who she was and how she died. Claudia told him about the special properties of the Island and a way in which he could leave.  Did Claudia single out BIB because she new he was corruptible and what fate had in store for him?  Or is it possible that it wasn’t Claudia at all, it was really Fmother just trying to get the chain of events started?

BIB lived with the Others for the next Thirty years gaining knowledge and figuring out a way off the Island.  Over the years Jacob would go to visit his brother without his Fmother knowing it.  One day MIB told Jacob, Fmother was right about the Others he said, they were bad, greedy, selfish, untrustworthy and manipulative.  He didn’t realize he had become the same way.  MIB also told Jacob he and the Others had found away off the Island and they were leaving he asked Jacob to go with him, but Jacob didn’t want to leave he was content. Jacob went home and told Fmother what MIB was planning it was time for a visit.  Fmother tricked MIB into thinking she came to say good bye instead she knocked him out, when he awoke all of the Others were dead, the camp was burned, but more importantly the well with the wheel, his ticket off the Island was filled in and destroyed, he was enraged.  We see here how the wheel got built and who built it and why there where so many well’s on the Island but more interestingly, how did she do all that by herself? You guessed it, I believe she’s also a Smokey!  She has the job of the protector and the punisher.

Fmother now realizes she was wrong and the protector was always suppose to be Jacob. She takes Jacob back to the “Light” and performs a little ritual making Jacob the new protector sealing the deal with a sip of wine.  She had convinced him it was always his destiny.  Fmother tells Jacob, “the Light is life, death and rebirth, the source, the heart of the Island”, then  made him promise to never go down there into the light as she said, “it’s worse than dying, trust me.” She knows this because after she became  the immortal protector she went in, that’s why I believe she’s a Smokey.

I think from the time she went to see the MIB she knew what was going to happen, it needed to happen for it was time. Fmother knew Jacob and MIB had to work together to protect the Island because they were incomplete, they were two halves of a whole.  Fmother knew MIB would be so full of rage that he would kill her and he did exactly that, he stabbed her with what looked like the same dagger Dogen gave to Sayid. When Jacob saw his brother standing over his Fmother’s  lifeless body he just lost it.  Jacob took MIB by the neck and threw him into the stream knocking him unconscious, the current then took him down into the “Light” to a fate worse than death.  Fmother’s plan was now complete, their destiny fulfilled. MIB came out of the light a big bad Smokey and his body washed down stream.

Dogen’s words echo through my head about everyone having light and darkness in their heart and one must prevail. I wonder if that makes a difference in what the “Light” does to you?

This was such a tragic story of two brothers who loved each other and  how quickly it changed to hate. It  makes you feel sorry for the MIB, how he never had a choice about his life. I understand now why he does some of the things he does.  He believes all people are corruptible like the original Others he lived with because that’s all the people he ever knew.

We got several answers this week, we know who ‘Adam and Eve’ are and who put them in the cave. We saw how Jacob and MIB came to be and who they are, also why they do the things they do, further more why MIB wanted his brother dead.  We learned about the power source of the Island, it’s heart and the “Light”.

Here’s some food for thought while we await the next episode.  Now knowing of the”Light”, I see how poor, lovable Desmond is nothing more than a fail safe much like the key he had to turn when he blew up ‘The Hatch’. As a last resort he will be sacrificed to stop the MIB.

What’s going to happen when Ben and Widmore meet up?

Do you think that maybe Jacob is also a Smokey? I do, I believe he went down into the “Light” as a punishment for what he did to his brother, but because he was good and innocent also being the immortal protector he came out as a good Smokey.  I believe this is the Smokey Locke saw when he said, he looked into the eye of the Island and said it was beautiful.

In a preview for next week we see a young Jacob get his ashes back from Hurley. Fmother told him the “Light” was also “rebirth”, so do you think he can take his ashes into the “Light” and get a second chance at life?

Well if you have a heart at all, this weeks episode, “The Candidate”, should have brought you to a sobbing mess.  I think we’d better stock up on the Kleenex, it’s going to be a heart breaking, tearful journey as we make our way to the end.  Are you ready to re-live it?  Here we go.

First off, don’t cry for Lapidus, he isn’t dead. We will see him wash up on a beach or he’ll come running out of the jungle just when the Lostie’s need him the most.  Whatever Desmond said to Sayid at the well was enough for Sayid not to kill him and it helped him find his way back to the light.  Sayid finally found redemption.  He died the death of a martyr to save his friends.  He also told Jack where to find Desmond and that Desmond must be important because Smokey wants him dead.  Ah yes, I told you I saw a glimmer of hope in Sayid’s eyes a couple of weeks ago.  I’m so glad he found his true self .

OMG! Sun and Jin! How tragic was that?  They finally found their way back to each other only to die.  Their love came full circle from Sun getting ready to leave Jin and Jin resenting Sun because of the things he had to do for her father, just to be able to be with her to dying in each others arms.  They shared the kind of love well, that fairy tales are made of.  That was so brave of Jin, how hard that must have been to stay knowing he would die, when he could have simply swam away. He was free to go be with his daughter.  However he  promised he would never leave Sun again and he just couldn’t do it.  Was there a dry eye in your house when the camera showed their hands drifting apart?

Let me ask you this, how mad did you get at Sawyer for not listening to Jack about the bomb? I love Sawyer to death, but he’s always had a problem listening to others, especially Jack.  Sawyer has taunted Jack repeatedly because of the people that’s died due to decisions he’s made.  I believe  Sawyer deserves a quote from Benjamin Linus, “destiny…is a fickle bitch.”  Speaking of Ben, where are Richard, Miles and Ben ? They set out to go get dynamite and haven’t been seen since.

So we found out Widmore has a list , most likely from Jacob. I always just thought he was there for his own agenda. I wonder what he’s going to use  Desmond for? I know it’s to some how kill Smokey but how?  Does anyone have any ideas why Kate is no longer a candidate? Her name is crossed off in the cave, but what did she do to make that happen.

Isn’t is awesome to see Jack like this?  He’s so calm now, a combination of  science and faith with a great acceptance and longing for what ever greater purpose he serves. Desmond seems to be the same way, some people think Jacob has taken over Desmond body, but I don’t believe that.

These past couple of episodes have been like going home in a way.  Seeing everyone together reminds me of the good ol’ days when everyone was alive and living together on the beach. So here are some final thoughts to think about or enlighten me with some answers.

1) Did you notice the colors of everyone’s clothing in both worlds?  Remember I listed it last week.

2) Back in season one, Jack mentioned he had taken flying lessons, do you think that will come into play now?

3) If it turns out Smokey and Jacob are brothers (which I believe they are) does that mean Jack and Claire will be the last two standing because they’re related? Or will it be Sawyer and Jack.

4) Did anyone notice the Dharma shark swimming by the hole in the sub as it was sinking? Is that how Smokey knew they didn’t all die? When he was standing there on the dock he looked like he was in a trance or something. Check it out at the 36.37 minute marker.

I really don’t care for Claire this season, she’s so strange now.  Sawyer was right when he said she’s been drinking Locke’s Koolaid, she’s welcome to stop any time now.

I’m not feeling the love for Kate either, why is she so selfish instead of helpful?  What made her change?

I really would have enjoyed seeing Sawyer and Jack as friends, they got close a few times, but something or someone always came between them.  What about Sayid?  Oh my goodness!  I just know Sayid is on his way back to us.  Don’t you believe for one minute that he killed Des, he actually got him out of that well and I believe he’s alive.  He told Smokey, “I just killed an unarmed man, I needed a moment.”  Well it’s just my opinion, but a man without a soul wouldn’t need a moment after killing someone.  After Sayid lied to Smokey about killing Des, he kind of smirked.  Now that’s a man on his way back.

So, we finally got to see Jin and Sun reunited, and Sun got her ability to speak English back.  Didn’t you think they were both going to die when they ran to each other?  I didn’t realize Zoe turned the fences off until I watched it a second time.  Looks like everything has turned out alright for them in the sideways world as well, including the baby.

It looks as thought all of our Lostie’s are coming together in the sideways world.  Kate is at the police station with James and Miles.  Not to mention they just went after Sayid, who they arrested for murder!

Thanks to Desmond, Jack and his son David met Claire at their attorneys’ office.  Jack is now getting ready to operate on Locke, whom I believe will walk again because Jack’s just that good.  I have a few questions I’d like answered, such as, how do you think the two worlds will merge?  What about Lapidus?  What part does he play, if they plane blows up?

Moving on now.  The answer that Smokey gave to Jack was incomplete, why did Smokey choose Locke’s body?  Why not Christian’s?  So many people died on the Island over the years, so why didn’t he choose one of them?  Why John, and why now?  If something happens to Smokey’s body (Locke’s body) what becomes of his being, his spirit?

What about Rose and Bernard?  Where do you think they are?  I think they’re fine, just doing what they were the last time we saw them, living together enjoying life and retirement.  What about Widmore, do you think he’s working for Jacob or is he a loose cannon and just wants the Island for himself?  I think he’s going to put Sawyer and the others on lockdown to keep them out of his way and to protect them from Smokey, or maybe he’s using them as bait.  What do you think Widmore is going to do with Desmond?  I haven’t figured that one out yet, but I think Desmond is going to die.  I believe Desmond and Sayid will both die a martyr’s death.

Can anyone tell me why so many of our Lostie’s are wearing the color gray?  In the sideways world Desmond, David, Ben, Jin, Ilana, Claire and Sawyer are all wearing gray, also we watch Kate put on a gray cap.  Jack and Locke are wearing blue.  On the Island Jack and Sawyer are both wearing blue.  Lapidus, Sun and Jin are wearing white and Kate is the only one wearing gray, with Desmond wearing red.  Why just certain colors now?  Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

There is no new episode this week and the next episode is titled, ‘The Candidate’.  So please feel free to share your ideas while we’re waiting.  I look forward to it.

Come on, this is it.  We only have 4 episodes until the finale.  We are getting the answers they promised, if they gave them to us all at once, well we’d only need one episode for season 6.  How can you watch five season’s and then quit before the finale?  Don’t you feel you owe the actors and characters the respect of following to the end?  Sure I’m disappointed with the way some things turned out,  but I’m too vested in the characters to stop now and I want to know all the secrets.

Alright with that behind us, We are on the road to the finale. Let’s see, we found out the Island is a cork holding evil hostage.  I thought of everything but a cork, I was thinking more Biblical like Zion so I totally missed that one.  Isn’t love grand? Well that’s what the story of LOST is all about, the greatest gift of all is love. I missed that one too what about you?

So, okay we were right about the next one, the whispers. Since the beginning I’ve thought the whispers were from poor souls that were trapped there.  I thought that because they were like a warning, we always heard them just before something was going to happen.  When Hurley asked Michael if he was the whispers he said, “yeah we’re the ones who can’t move on.  I’m here because of what I did.”

Wasn’t it awesome to see Desmond again?  In my opinion Desmond and Penny share the greatest love story in television history.  Remember season 5 in ‘The Constant’, that magical phone conversation they shared? It brought tears to my eyes.   In the alternate world it seems Desmond is acting like Jacob did in the season 5 finale.  Des is seeking out the Lostie’s that were on flight 815 with the intentions of helping them to remember their lives on the Island.  He found Hurley and encouraged him to seek out Libby.  By the way didn’t Libby look great?  So while on a picnic Libby and Hurley kiss and that exact moment Hurley starts having flashes of their lives together on the Island.  Des saw them doing great together and moved on to the next Lostie, John Locke.

Now one would have to wonder what did poor Locke ever do wrong to the universe, he’s fallen eight stories which left him in a wheelchair, has been shot twice, strangled, murdered and now run over by Desmond.  I can only think of two reasons why Des would have run him down:

1) Desmond has a flash while in the well or as he’s falling and realizes if he kills Locke, Smokey can’t ever inhabit his body.

2) He knows Locke’s accident will get him to Jack, and Jack will fix him so he can walk again. Locke then returns to the Island in the alternate world.

Well the last we saw, Smokey shoved Desmond down a deep well that happens to be over a pocket of energy. Don’t really know yet what that means if anything.

Let’s look at poor Sayid again. I woke up out of a dead sleep thinking about Sayid, I could just be grasping at straws here and I know I’ve said it before, but I think Sayid is playing  ol’ Smokey.  I saw something in his eyes when he asked Smokey, “how’s our friend?” In the promo for next week I know it shows Sayid at the well pointing a gun at Des but I think it’s a smoke screen, he’s probably going to get Des out of there. When Sayid  captured Desmond, he let Zoe go and  told Smokey “I didn’t see the point in killing them, when I had what I came for.” Time will tell, I don’t believe Sayid will be one of the last ones standing, I think Sayid will die a martyr’s death saving his friends and finally receiving redemption and peace.

Poor Ilana, Hurley warned her about the dynamite. I couldn’t believe she just blew up like that I figured she was touched by Jacob like Richard was. So other than getting Sayid to the Island what purpose did she serve? She will be missed. I would have liked some back story on her and her relationship with Jacob.

So what now? Smokey now has everyone he needs to leave the Island…almost that is. Smokey has a pilot and all the candidates except Jin.

Predictions:

- Juliet is the mother of Jack’s son.

- Juliet has coffee with Sawyer.

- Gin, Sun and Claire don’t make it to the finale.

- Jack will fix Locke in the alternate world.

We had all better brace ourselves for what’s coming, we have a lot of tears and heartache ahead. See ya Tuesday and bring a box of tissues.

We’ll start with Sayid.  He told Smokey, “I don’t feel anything – anger, happiness, pain.  I don’t feel it anymore.”  It would appear that Sayid is officially soul-less.  I was so hopeful that he would finally win the battle over darkness, that maybe he was only trying to trick Smokey, but it seems all hope is now lost.

I’ve been re-watching the other season’s, waiting for Tuesday to roll around and I’ve got to say, I really miss the old Sayid.  The Sayid that wasn’t infected, not to mention, he’s not doing to well in the sideways world either.  Let’s see, he’s in love with Nadia who’s married to his brother.  Poor Sayid just killed several men that were after his brother, so now he will more than likely get arrested or killed.  My prediction is Sayid won’t make it through the finale.  In the smoke of the MiB, do you think that what we see are trapped souls?

I believe what happens to the Lostie’s in one place, affects them in both places.  Let’s take a look at Sun, poor Sun.  How alone she must feel, all she wanted was to find Jin and take him home.  I don’t believe Sun is going to make it to the finale.  In the sideways world she is pregnant, unmarried and shot in the stomach.  Back on the Island, she has lost the ability to speak English and is no closer to finding Jin than she was when the airplane landed.

Jin isn’t doing much better.  In the sideways world he just killed Mikahail in a restaurant where he was being held by Keamy, who was paid off by Sun’s father, to kill Jin.  Back on the Island he was in the MiB’s camp until he was kidnapped by Widmore’s people, all because they want to know more about the maps that have his name on them.  Could their lives be so horrible in the sideways world because they’re separated on the Island?

Do you think the MiB was trying to get Jin to unwrap his leg so the “infection” might creep in?  My prediction is I don’t see Sun and Jin making it through the finale.  Moving on…

The package, now how does Desmond fit into this war?  Daniel Faraday told Desmond, “the rules don’t apply to you”, implying that Desmond’s past can, in a way, be altered which can’t happen to anyone else – remember, “what happened, happened.”  We watched him alter his past when he bought an engagement ring from Eloise and she told him “NO”, he wasn’t supposed to buy it and that he was supposed to abandon Penny.  Eloise went on to say that he’d go to the Island and push a button in the Swan station.  She also said the universe has a way of course correcting to prevent people from straying too far off course.

Now we all know Desmond made it back to Penny and they share one of the greatest love stories on network television.  That phone conversation they shared where they said, at the exact same time, “No matter what, I’ll come back to you, I love you”, would have melted a heart of stone.  They’re meant to be together.  We don’t know enough about Desmond’s younger years, to know what makes him so special or is it because he was exposed to a massive amount of electromagnetic energy, and this did something to him.

If they kill Desmond, I’ll never forgive them.  After all those years apart, Desmond and Penny deserve to be together.  I hope Desmond is not a sacrifice the Island is demanding.

Let’s talk about Smokey now.  What can’t Smokey fly across to the other island?  Why is he afraid of what the secret on Widmore’s sub is?  Does he know it’s Desmond?  We do know that Smokey told Claire, the only way to leave is all the names that haven’t been crossed off the candidate’s list, must go together.  He also told Claire that after Kate helps him get the other candidates back, that he won’t need Kate anymore and that “whatever happens, happens.”  In other words, Claire could kill Kate if she wants to.  It’s clear Smokey wants them all dead, all the candidates must die in order for him to leave the Island.

Now we have Widmore in the mix and he’s brought Desmond with him as some sort of sacrifice.  I love it when Smokey asked Widmore, “do you know who I am?”  To which Widmore replied, “what I know  is a combination of myths, ghost stories and jungle noises in the night”.  I thought that was very fitting.

So a lot of our theories have been right so far, we’ve only been off on a few.  Let’s see how our luck holds up.  So, we’ve been talking about the mirrors and their reflections, let’s explore this a little bit more.  I know I’ve had several thoughts on this, but here’s another one.

All of our Lostie’s were exposed to high levels of electromagnetism and radiation from the hydrogen bomb.  What if, just what if, the sideways world is just a displacement of their collective conscience.  Like when Desmond time traveled after turning the fail safe key at The Hatch?  So when they look in the mirrors at themselves, they get a glimpse of their real lives back on the Island.  To stay alive in both worlds they must find their connection, their constant, their anchor.  For example, Jacks’ fathers’ death and his appendix scar.  He has this in common in both worlds.  If you don’t find your connection, I don’t believe you’ll make it to the end of the war, to the finale.

We are going to see a lot of deaths in the near future and don’t believe this is going to turn out the way we expect it to.  I think there will be some good surprises along the way.  I think we will see Juliet as the mother of Jack’s son, Ana Lucia will turn out to be Miles’ girlfriend and we’ll see who Juliet is going to have coffee with.  Could it be Sawyer?

So lets get to it. What did you think of this last episode?  Wasn’t Richard amazing?  I felt so sorry for the way his life turned out.  Remember a couple of weeks ago, when Richard ran into Jack and Hurley in the jungle and took them to the Black Rock  so he could convince them to help him commit suicide?  I said I thought  he was really sent by Jacob and that he was faking it to test Jack’s faith, well I was wrong.

Wow, poor Richard had a rough lonely life, blaming and beating himself up all those years for his wife’s death and for the death of that greedy doctor.  Not wanting to die and go to hell for his sins he asks Jacob for eternal life, but because of the guilt he felt he created his own hell.  It seems as though Richard was riddled with guilt thinking Isabella died because of his sin which was committed when the doctor died, accidental or not.

What a blessing it must have been for him to finally receive closure and thanks to Isabella, he finally got redemption which will give him back his faith in Jacob. Isabella also told Hurley to tell Richard, “you have to stop the Man in Black from leaving the Island.  If you don’t, we will all go to hell.”  It would appear MIB has been planning Jacob’s death for a very long time, seeing how he tried to get Richard to do it.

We also found out that Jacob was quite the bad ass, he could have easily stopped Ben from stabbing him. It appeared more like Jacob fell into Ben’s knife, as if this had to happen.  But why?  Jacob told us, “to think of the wine as what you keep calling evil or hell,  here it is swirling around in the bottle unable to get out because if it did it would spread.  The cork is this Island and it’s the only thing keeping this darkness where it belongs.”  Jacob told Richard, “the MIB thinks everyone is corruptible because it’s their very nature to sin.  I bring people here to prove him wrong and when they get here their past doesn’t matter.  I want them to help themselves, to know the difference between right and wrong without me telling them, it’s all meaningless If I have to tell them.”  So this is how Richard became Jacob’s representative, the Islands ambassador. We now understand why Richard was the only one to deal directly with Jacob and how Jacob would help people make decisions about the Island and for the Island.

In the final scene of the episode we learned why the MIB needed to have Jacob killed. The MIB wants to leave the Island and Jacob was the only thing keeping him there.  What a great episode, we got several questions answered, but as usual it leaves me wanting more. There is still so much I want to know. Let’s look at some of those unanswered mysteries.

Could Eloise Hawking be on the same side as the MIB?  We’ve all wondered why her and Widmore parted company and why she knew the location of  the Island, but Widmore didn’t. Eloise had been working with Ben to get  the ‘Oceanic Six’ back to the Island, she was the one that figured out which airline and flight to be on to make it happen.  She was also the one that told Jack he had to bring John Locke’s body back to the Island with them. Tell me, how did she end up with John Locke’s suicide letter? One more thing, remember Faraday telling Jack, Eloise was wrong and the ‘Oceanic Six’ wasn’t suppose to be here, back on the Island.  It was Flocke/Smokey that told Richard to tell the time traveling Locke he would have to die.  So it’s possible that MIB and Eloise could be working together.

Just a few more items about Eloise and Widmore. It’s still unclear about the connection between them and the Island.  Eloise doesn’t have a birth certificate and we don’t really know where her or Widmore were born. Could they have been born on the Island? Why does Widmore insist the Island is his? Is it possible that Widmore is related to Alvar Hanso, a descendant of the Captain of the Black Rock?

Now let’s not be fooled by MIB, a lot of people are thinking he’s the good guy because he’s been telling the truth. Remember what he said, “everyone is corruptible, it’s their very nature to sin”.  He knows he’s among sinners and he knows exactly what they’ve all done, “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.”  MIB is planning on killing everyone that he doesn’t need to help him get off that Island. He told Jacob he would kill him and who ever replaced him, no one is going to stand in his way of leaving.

Looking back at the Dr. Linus episode, Dr. Linus was talking to his class about Napoleon being exiled to an Island called ELBA . The mirror image of ELBA is ABLE.  Could it be a clue for a story about Cain and Able or are they just trying to fool us?

Just a few more questions to go.  Have you ever thought about Daniel Faraday’s father? Why wasn’t Widmore part of his life?  Why doesn’t Daniel have the same last name as one of his parents?  Both of Daniel’s parents have blue eyes, yet Daniel has brown eyes, this is a very rare and odd thing to happen. Hmmm…

It seems clear to me now that poor Ben was taking all his orders from the MIB all those years not knowing it wasn’t Jacob.  Richard believed Ben was talking to Jacob and getting his orders from him, he had no reason to check it out. It was the MIB who had  Ben kill all the Dharma people in the purge and exile Widmore from the Island. The MIB also had Juliet brought to the Island to try to help the others have children, he was trying to make his loop hole. Lets not forget when they took Walt and put him in ‘Room 23′, Juliet said Jacob was in there talking to him, was it Jacob or the MIB? Poor Ben never worked for nor even met Jacob, he was deceived his entire life by the MIB. Did Aaron’s birth help the MIB with his loop hole somehow?

One final question.  The MIB told Richard that the devil (Jacob), “took my body, my humanity,” could it be possible that MIB’s body is really in the cave as Adam and Eve with maybe his wife or mother?

Alright that’s it for this week. I’m going to share with you another puzzle to think about. So here goes, it’s a new 4 letter word that will be revealed in 2 weeks. This word has no A’s and one E, and as of episode 11 it will be clear that this 4 letter word is what this series is ultimately all about.  It’s also the word that might end up connecting the 2 worlds (the Island and flash sideways).

Did ya check out poor Sayid?  I think Sayid is kind of stuck between two worlds or at least his soul is or here’s another thought, Sayid’s soul already made the trip back and he’s playing Smokey.  Maybe he’s trying to make Smokey think he’s his fully infected, dark little zombie.  That would explain why he just sat there and didn’t help as Claire almost cut Kate’s throat. I still believe Sayid will find his way back to us.  What about Claire, is she a whack – o or what?  Back when Claire’s house blew up in New Otherton, Claire had only been unconscious for a few seconds when Sawyer got to her but she still became infected in that short of time, we know this because Dogen told Jack, “it happened to your sister.”  It took Sayid two hours to reawaken all infected. Even so, Kate needs to stay as far away from Claire as she possibly can and sleep with one eye open.  There are times when Claire seems so normal like when she apologized to Kate for trying to kill her, other times it’s like the lights are on and something else is home.

What did you make of Smokey’s conversation with Kate?  Smokey said, “I know what you’re feeling Kate, I know what you’re going through.  Because my mother was crazy.” I believe he was also talking about Kate’s mother and the fact that she stayed in an abusive relationship and what that did to Kate. Smokey said as a result of that I had some growing pain, problems I’m trying to work my way through. Kate asks, “why are you telling me this?”  Smokey replies, “Because Aaron has a crazy mother too.”  Do you think it’s possible that Smokey is trying to get Kate to kill Claire to save Aaron? Or maybe he was just trying to gain Kate’s trust by bonding or by acting like he really cares?

I was shocked when Smokey admitted to being “the smoke thing” and that he killed everyone left at the temple.  I almost felt sorry for him when he told Sawyer, “It’s kill or be killed and I don’t want to be killed.”  He was so sincere. Just before sending Sawyer to do recon on Hydra Island, he told Sawyer “you’re the best liar I ever met.”  How does he know? Did you catch the look on Sawyer’s face?  The mission on Hydra, “to make sure it’s safe and to secure the plane so they can fly off and never look back.”  What is Smokey planning on doing with all of these people and what does he want them for?  Where is he going when he leaves the Island?  We know he’s from another time, so everything and everyone he knew is gone and has been for sometime.

I wish Sawyer would have let Widmore do all the talking when they met, I don’t believe his only mission is to do battle  with Smokey. Furthermore I don’t believe Widmore killed all those people on Hydra Island, I think Smokey did it. Widmore told Sawyer,”it’s sad really how little you actually know” When Sawyer told him I know you sent Keamy to kill everyone on the Island.  With that statement being said it sounds as though Ben lied to us again.  Anyhow before leaving Hydra, Sawyer and Widmore did come to an agreement to make sure Sawyer and the people on his boat don’t get hurt and to give them safe passage off the Island.

What do you think could be behind that locked door on the sub? Is it something to contain or kill Smokey? Or is it someone, like Desmond?

Sawyer returned to Smokey and tells him what Widmore is up to and that he made a deal with Widmore so he can set a trap to kill Smokey. Sawyer tells Smokey, “that way they’ll be caught with their pants down when we change our plan of attack.”  Smokey said, “I appreciate your loyalty James.”  Sawyer is playing the ends against the middle hoping they kill each other, offering a distraction so Kate and him can get off the Island.  I think Sawyer realized that Smokey can read your thoughts and get your memories, that’s why he told him all about what happen at the sub.

Now I’m going to give you some items to think about.

1) I believe there is some kind of connection between Smokey and water. Do you know what it is?

2) Smokey told Ben to meet him at Hydra Island, do you think it was because Widmore was there and thought Ben might kill Widmore or get killed?

3) What does Smokey really want with Sawyer?

4) Are all the other names on the wheel at the lighthouse, people that Jacob brought to the Island to be candidates? Did  Smokey kill them all because he grew tired of playing Jacob’s game?

5) On each episode in the sideways world it shows the main Lostie’s reflection in something. In this reflection that person is either on the left side of the mirror  and the real person is standing on the right or the reflection of that person is on the right and the real person is standing on the left of the mirror. The person’s image doesn’t match up in the mirror. Is this telling us something like, all the reflections in the mirror’s on the right are with Jacob or will be, and the one’s on the left are with Smokey or vice versa? Or could it be who will live or die? or is it nothing. I noticed in Dr. Linus, when Ben got to the old beach camp he went into Sawyers old tent, ‘the library’, and picked up a magazine, on the cover in the bottom left corner you can see the words ‘view mirrors’. Is this what it’s talking about? You can’t see it in the enhanced episode.

6) The four letter word will be revealed to us next week.

If dead is dead, will they be using Michael Landon’s conversation with his daughter, ” knowing that people aren’t really gone when they die – we have all the good memories to sustain us until we see them again,” to bring  back some of our Lostie’s that died on the Island?

In Dr. Linus we got several questions answered.  Let’s get started.  So many times I thought Ben was a goner, that we’d seen the last of him, but like a bad penny he just keeps turning up.  I’ve always felt sorry for Benjamin Linus, because of the way his father treated him.  Growing up with a drunk for a father who’s yearly birthday present was to remind the young Ben of how he had killed his own mother, how did we expect him to turn out?  All Ben ever wanted was to be loved and accepted instead he remained the misfit, always unwanted and never loved.  This lonely existence drove Ben to becoming the pathological lying, master manipulating murderer we’ve all grown to love and hate.  This was the best of  Ben that I’ve seen thus far.

In the sideways world Ben deserves the ‘Teacher of the Year’ award. What did you think of  Ben’s relationship with his dad, changing out his oxygen tank and feeding him organic meals to ‘keep him healthy’?  Remember what Ben did to his dad on the Island? It was Ben’s 28th birthday when he killed Roger by releasing a gas canister in the Dharma van.  Oh well, can we really blame him?  In one way or another Ben was responsible for the death of both his parents.

Now I always knew it was just a matter of time before Ben got caught in his new lie, about who really killed Jacob.  Ilana asked Miles to listen to the bag containing some of Jacob’s ashes, and Miles told her Ben did it – that he was standing over the body with a bloody knife.  I hated Ben for killing Jacob.  But I still felt sorry for him having to dig his own grave.

One of the most touching moments in the history of LOST was when Ben was explaining his actions to Ilana for killing Jacob, it actually came from his heart. I could have cried with him when he said “because he’s the only one that will have me”, explaining that he was going to go with Locke. I never expected Ilana  to say “I’ll take you” and I don’t think Ben did either by the look on his face.  Ben finally has redemption.  Free…free at last.  The final scene of the Lostie’s on the beach, poor Ben was still the misfit the one nobody wants or trusts.

Even though Ilana has forgiven Ben, he might want to keep digging that grave.  So far everyone that Smokey approached with an ‘offer’ has accepted it, no one has turned him down yet.  Smokey told Ben he was taking a group off the Island and someone has to stay and be in charge, he offered this to Ben.  So what do you think will happen when Ben doesn’t show up at the Hydra station?  Not only will Smokey be ‘disappointed’, Ben also has Widmore to contend with now.  Let’s recap real quick.  For some reason Ben can’t kill Widmore but Widmore had been plotting to kill Ben.  Ben was the one responsible for getting Widmore exiled from the Island.  I’m not really sure who’s side Widmore is on.  At one time he was in charge of the Others and worked with Richard.

When Bram picked up Miles, he tried to talk Miles out of working for Widmore saying’ he’s playing for the wrong team’. We now know Bram was a body guard for Jacob.  I’ve always wondered what happened between Widmore and Eloise, I say that because Eloise always knew how to find the Island but Widmore didn’t. That tells us they parted ways. When Widmore  encountered Locke, he told Locke of an approaching war coming. Then when Ben broke into Widmore’s bedroom Ben asked when did you start sleeping with a bottle by your bed, Widmore said when the nightmares started. Could the nightmares be about the approaching war he told Locke about which is what the Lostie’s are living now? Let’s not forget Widmore ordered Keamy to kill every living person on the Island including the survivors of flight 815 would that be the work of Jacob when several of the Lostie’s are candidates?

Let’s look at Jack and Richard. Was that scene in the Black Rock nerve racking or what? Do you really think Richard just accidentally happened to run into Jack and Hurley?  Do you think Richard was really suicidal?  Well maybe, to both questions.  What if Jacob sent Richard to stage all of that to see if Jack was starting  to understand that he was there for a reason. That’s what I’m thinking happened.  Richard told Jack and Hurley that when Jacob touches you, “it’s a gift” and this ‘gift’ won’t let you take your own life.  Also this ‘gift’ is what keeps Richard from aging.

Well Jack the man of science is becoming the man of faith because he was right, the stick of dynamite went out when he lit it for Richard.  Jack believed Jacob wouldn’t have gone through all the trouble of watching him all those years and then bringing him to the Island, to sit there and explode with Richard.  That took an awful lot of faith to just sit there.  Jack now believes he’s there for a reason, a purpose, his destiny.

Ilana told Sun they are all candidates to replace Jacob.  Ilana said she is protecting the last six and she doesn’t know which Kwon she’s protecting Sun, Jin or both – that’s why she needs to find Jin.  When Sun asked, “replace Jacob to do what?”  Ilana said, “if you’re the one selected, I imagine you’ll find out.”

Here’s a reminder from Tom Friendly. When Michael was trying to commit suicide and it didn’t matter what he did, nothing worked.  Tom told him, “you can’t die until the Island is through with you.”  Maybe that’s why Widmore and Ben can’t kill each other…..yet.

So let’s see, we found out from Dogen that the test’s that were conducted on Sayid were to show the balance of good and evil.  Unfortunately for Sayid, Dogen said the scales tipped toward evil.  After Sayid says he’s a good man and still has a good soul Dogen offers Sayid a chance at redemption.  Dogen gives Sayid a dagger that he had hidden and tells Sayid what’s waiting outside is evil incarnate that’s been trapped for years, but now that Jacob is gone he’s free and he won’t stop until everything on the island is dead.  Dogen then said, “plunge this dagger deep into his chest, if he speaks it’s too late”.  Sayid stopping for a drink encounters Flocke/Smokey, being caught a little off guard Flocke/Smokey says, “Hello Sayid” just before Sayid plunges the dagger into his chest.  I believe he didn’t die because he was able to speak before Sayid plunged the dagger into his chest.

It’s odd that a knife was able to kill Jacob but not Flocke/Smokey.  At first I thought it was because Sayid had been placed in the Temple pool,  but so had Ben, yet Jacob still died. If it wasn’t because he was able to speak first maybe Flocke/Smokey has to be killed by someone innocence or pure in heart, say like Hurley?  Another thing I noticed is Flocke/Smokey never comes right out and says, I’ll give you what ever you want.  In talking to Sayid, Flocke/Smokey says “what if I told you, you could have anything you wanted – anything in the entire world”, but he doesn’t say I’ll give you anything in the entire world.  Sayid said “all I ever wanted died in my arms and I’ll never see it again.”   Flocke/Smokey says “what if you could?”  He doesn’t say you will, I’ll make it happen.  Flocke/Smokey isn’t really promising anything, he’s just misleading everyone.

So back at the temple Sayid delivers Flocke/Smokey’s message, for everyone to be out of the temple by sundown or he’s going to kill them.  Moments later Sayid drowns Dogen  in the Temple pool, and when Lennon asks, “what have you done?  Dogen was the only thing keeping it out!”  Sayid says, “I know”, and cuts Lennon’s throat and shovels him into the pool.  Now do you think darkness won within Sayid and that he did all of that to have Nadia again?  I wonder if it’s all part of a plan. Sayid has never been selfish. Could he just be trying to gain Flocke/Smokey’s trust?  Could Dogen and Lennon come back to life from the temple pool?  Maybe he killed them in the pool with the hope that they might come back verses the way Flocke/Smokey would have tortured them, like a mercy killing. The look on Sayid’s face when Dogen was telling his story about his son and Jacob – it looked like he was touched and felt sorry for him.  Maybe I’m digging too deep, but I thought it strange that he killed them in the pool.

In the meantime – Ilana, Ben, Lapidus, and Sun meet up with Miles and Ilana takes them to the same place Jacob had Hurley take Jack.  The symbol on the stone that Ilana pushes on is called a Shin Ring, which means  “eternity and protected”, we already know it’s a secret exit.  Ilana keeps asking about Sayid, so Ben goes to the pool to find him.  Ben tells Sayid, “come on, I  know a way out of here there’s still time”, Sayid says “not for me there’s not”.  Ben meets up with Ilana and the rest of them in the jungle, Ilana asks about Sayid, when Ben tells her he killed Dogen and Lennon she says are you sure?  Ben says he was standing over them with a bloody dagger.  See again why does Ilana keep asking about Sayid?  I will really be shocked if sayid turns out to be dark and is part of Flocke/Smokey’s gang.

Sayid said Flocke/Smokey is leaving the island for ever which is what he told Sawyer.  How is he leaving? Jacob said someone was coming to the island, is that Flocke/Smokey’s transportation off the island?

What about Claire?  She told Jin if Kate took Aaron off the Island she’d kill her.  Do you think she’s going to kill Kate the first chance she has or maybe Claire thinks Flocke/Smokey will take care of her?  What about the way Flocke/Smokey looked at Kate, if looks could kill was that scary or what?  Kate saw something in the smoke as the smoke monster passed over her in the hole, I thought it was a body or maybe trapped souls.  What do you think it was? I really like Dogen and I hope he’s not really dead, I thought he was a good addition to the Island.

Well I’m going to leave you with another clue to last week’s puzzle, the four letter word has an “O” in it.
